Your instrument is very special.

Only very particular care and special attention by your piano maker will ensure that you can enjoy playing music and that your instrument will stay in top condition.

The following will give you advice and hints about how to keep your instrument in top condition:

Correct Location

Your instrument is a piece of furniture that deserves a special place. However, as it is built from various materials (wood, metal, felt and leather), some special requirements should be noted: Your valuable instrument should never be exposed to direct sunlight, nor should it be positioned next to a window.
Your floor can be protected by coasters underneath the wheels.

If you have the feeling that its sound does not expand satisfactory in the room, check and perhaps alter the position of the instrument.

The acoustics of a room can be optimated by good planning where the instrument is positioned and, perhaps, by intonation of the hammerhead.

Suitable Interior Climate

A stable and suitable interior climate is essential for your instrument. The temperature in the room should be kept at around 20 degrees Celsius and have a humidity of around 40% to 70%. This will ascertain a true intonation and will not impair the sound mechanism.

Care of Instrument

You should only use cleaners and polishes sold at a good specialists shop. In this way you can save yourself expensive repairs due to wrong treatment.

Cleaning the Keys

To clean the keys use a soft real leather cloth. For dirt that is hard to remove, a special damp key cleaning cloth obtainable in a specialists shop, may be used.

Surface Care

To clean the exterior of the piano, you should first use an ordinary anti-static duster to remove lose dust. A highly polished surface may be cleaned with special polishing liquid and a piece of terry towelling, matt surfaces with a special cleaning cloth available at all good piano shops.

Periodic Cleaning

Over the years, dust may creep into the instrument itself. The removal should be left to the specialist, so that sensitive parts are not damaged.
